We apologise to all our patrons, but we can no longer
place our personal website here on Fortune City.

Just recently we noticed that the text on our website had been
vioilated by Fortune City. We were appalled to find that FC
were in fact using the text on our website as links to promote
their adverts. We literally found that dozens of the words
on our website had been corrupted in this manner.

For example, I was telling everyone on my web site about the
romantic way my husband and I met, and FC placed a link on
the word romantic on my website, to link to some website that
was promoting romantic getaways. These sorts of advertising
links were literally all over our text on on our website.

NO, we are not joking.

We were shocked and appalled when we saw what
Fortune City had done to our website. I have literally
had this website for over seven years, and this is how
they have repayed me for advertising their services!

I can understand adding pop-ups and header/ footer
adverts to free host's website, but actually adding link
to people's private text?! That is totally unacceptable.

So, if you own a FC website, be sure to check to see that
they have not corrupted your lovely website like they did
ours. They literally turned the text of our lovely personal
website, into a den of various adverts. In total, we found
that literally dozens of words in the text of our website
had been converted to some sort of advert link!

We would not be a bit surprised if they now take this text,
and apply various links to the words found here. Of course
it would be a really stupid thing to do, but then it was
a hideous thing to do to us in the first place!

If you would like to see the personal website that was here until
FC did this terrible thing, you will find that we have moved
Our Dreams ...A Neverending Story temporarily to
Yahoo Geocities, until we can and a more permanent
home for our websites. You will find additional links
to our websites below under favorite links.

We will not be moving back to FC in future, unless in the unlikely
event that we receive an apology for their appalling and unethical
behaviour, and an assurance that this will never happen again

We would also like to mention that it has taken over six months,
and several emails to be able to login to our account in order
to delete it, because of all the technical problems FC has all
the time. The issue is, that members with free websites
have no rights at all, including the right to login!

If you have any sort of technical problems, they use it as a tool to
try to shove their premium services down your throat. Help is non-
existant for free members. So, if you cannot login due to their
technical inefficiencies, then you are just out of luck!

So do yourself a favour, and look elsewhere for a host for
your site! At least until Fortune City stops disrespecting
our private text by placing tacky advert on them!!!


Of course, if you do not care if FC turns your website text
into a hotbed of advertisements, then by all mean stay.

UPDATE: 19 OCT 2005

Shortly after placing this notice, we found several links on the
text throughout this notice. After pointing them out, they
disappeared. lol Do you think maybe FC got the
message, or are they just trying to be sneaky!?

Only time will tell.

But for future references, should any links appear
throughout the text of this notice, other than the link
we added to our new location, then you will know
that it was FC that placed them there, and not us!
Personally, at this point, I don't think they will dare,
without making themselves look very bad indeed.
